They say every picture tells a story, but photographs of this home only cover a few of its chapters. There’s much more to the smart brick-clad house, with accents of contrasting weatherboard, than first impressions. For a start, there are three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living spaces, an office, double garage, separate laundry, powder room and more — all within the 181sqm footprint. Open the front door, turn left and you’re in a separate living or media room; turn right to find the office. Straight ahead and the hall leads to a lovely open-plan zone infused with natural light. The eye is drawn to the kitchen and its breakfast bar. It’s sleek with white cabinetry, a walk-in pantry, stone-hued benchtops and grey-toned splashback tiles.
From the kitchen, the space fans out to a family room in one direction and a dining room in the other. Wherever you look, sliders open to sunny patios and original details stand out — such as patterned tiles in earthy hues in the bathrooms There’s an interesting postscript to this story. The out-of-town owners had been visiting the district and, on seeing the land, contacted a local builder there and then. A deal was quickly struck and the house was built, remotely, as a rental investment.
Once the owners saw it, however, such was the quality, they wanted to move in. While that didn’t happen, it’s good to know the standard of workmanship had such a magnetic pull.
